江古田の森公園

中野区では一番大きな公園ではないかと思います。　ハナミズキの丘というのがあり、それは米国から贈られたハナミズキが最初に植えられた場所（当時の野方苗園）だからだそうです。　東京市長尾崎行雄がワシントンに桜を贈ったのが1912年、返礼としてハナミズキが来たのが1915年とか。　もうすぐ100年ですね。　（2009年9月26日、東京）

Probably the largest park in Nakano.  There is Dogwood Hill in the park, and it used to be Nogata Nursery where the first dogwoods from US were planted.  Mayor Yukio Ozaki brought Japanese cherry trees to Washington D.C. in 1912, and the dogwoods came here in 1915 as a return gift. バリンゴ県からちょっと行ったところにあるボゴリア湖の間欠泉です。　後ろにぼんやり見えているのはフラミンゴの群れで、ボゴリア湖に流れ込む真水を求めてやって来ます。　大地溝帯にある湖はみな塩分濃度が高いので、ここで体についた塩分を落とすと言われています。（2000年11月8日、ケニア共和国ボゴリア湖）

国境

ネパールとインドとの国境です。　ネパールもこの辺りの平地（タライと呼びます）は標高数十ｍしかありません。　国境を越えて農地を持っている農民もいます。 （2002年8月13日、ネパール　ビラトナガールの近くの村で）
